Motherhood Changed Me—Here’s How I’m Finding Myself Again
Becoming a mum is one of the greatest gifts of my life—and it changed everything. Overnight, my world revolved around feeding schedules, nap times, and tiny milestones. Somewhere in the middle of the joy and the juggle, I realised something honest and a little scary: I had lost a part of myself. My spark, my drive, even my confidence felt buried beneath the beautiful weight of motherhood.
There were days I’d look in the mirror and barely recognise the woman staring back. The dreams I once had? On pause. The routines I loved? Gone. I poured everything into my little one, and while it filled my heart, it sometimes emptied my energy. If you’ve felt this too, I want you to know—you’re not alone.
The Gentle Truth
Motherhood doesn’t mean losing yourself—it means evolving. I’m learning to hold both truths at once: I am a devoted mum, and I’m also a woman with passions, goals, and a life to nurture.
The Steps I’m Taking to Find Myself Again
- Carving Out Tiny “Me” Moments
Even ten minutes counts—little self care routine, a quick journal entry, a quiet stretch. Small pockets of presence add up. - Learning & Growing Again
I’m rebuilding my confidence through online learning and work (like data entry/analysis and simple digital skills). Purpose fuels energy. - Celebrating Small Wins
A completed task, a healthy meal, a tidy corner, a shower without rushing—tiny victories are still victories. - Reconnecting with People
Honest chats with friends, online communities, and supportive spaces remind me I’m not doing this alone. - Practising Self-Compassion
I’m dropping the pressure to “bounce back.” I’m allowed to grow at a kind, human pace.
For Any Mum Who Feels a Little Lost
You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. Start where you are. Take one small, loving step today. Put your hand on your heart and remember: you are still you—becoming.
